All along these gated windows
Eyes peer out from the dark
From That Caribbean highway
Cold green waves crash my way
I been working it out
Don’t you know that I’m leaving
Fast I go, soon I came
Tell me quick about my country
The Warm green air in my blood
Is this home? do you care?
Dancing in hot colmados
Red white and blue lights that failed
Tell me about the gated windows
Where Mothers yell, children dwell
Wild dogs dance in the air
From that rowdy bodega
We bought rum and guitars strum
Filled our lungs, fuck the vanguard
Tranquilo, Hermosa
There was love in the air
Don’t you know that I’m leavin’
Alvvays has always been great, but with this album they took it to the next level. Every one of these songs is lodged in my brain now, permanently (in a good way). s. moxley
I think it's difficult to write songs about something other than romantic love, and still be able to communicate the intensity with which those feelings can hit a person. Some of the entries on this album are fantastic examples of this niche. dani_bloop
Sparkling synthpop with an emphasis on high-wattage chords and the kind of melodies that burrow themselves deep in the brain. Bandcamp New & Notable Dec 1, 2023
This is undoubtedly my single favorite album of all time. It feels like such a perfect culmination of all the themes and ideas Fleet Foxes has been working with since 2008. It answers many of the questions found on both Helplessness Blues and Crack-Up, and represents an incredible maturation and growth in Robin Pecknold's perspective. Their other albums are certainly masterpieces, but this, in my opinion, is their magnum opus. I doubt it will be recognized as such in its time. isaiah_stuart
